Former UCLA Commit Allerik Freeman Weighs Options

There is still no word on a decision from Findlay Prep's (NV) 6'4 guard Allerik Freeman following his release from a previous commitment to UCLA prior to the firing of Ben Howland.

Kansas and Villanova were Freeman's final choices along with the Bruins. Ohio State and Duke had also offered. Freeman, a Charlotte NC native, is the second best unsigned prospect remaining in the class of 2013 behind only top ranked Andrew Wiggins. Villanova's signing of 6'4 Josh Hart for next year at the same guard position could be a factor in Freeman's decision. However, Freeman is rated slightly higher than Hart. Freeman's other previous finalists Kansas, Duke and Ohio State have already signed highly rated shooting guards of their own for 2013 in 6'6 Brannen Greene, 6'4 Matt Jones and 6'3 Kameron Williams. Villanova also has an open scholarship to use at shooting guard following the transfer of sophomore Ash Yacoubou, who is now considering Pitt, St. Louis and Georgia Tech. Junior PG Tony Chennault also decided to transfer from Villanova this offseason, creating even more room for minutes in the back court.
