Xavier, Minnesota, Baylor new options for Allerik Freeman

6'4 guard Allerik Freeman, a former UCLA commit and the second best unsigned prospect from the 2013 recruiting class, has taken visits to Minnesota and Xavier. Freeman was granted his release from the Bruins following Ben Howland's firing.

Baylor is also showing interest and expects a visit this week from Freeman, a native of Charlotte. Minnesota recently hired Richard Pitino, son of Louisville's Rick Pitino, as their new head coach, replacing Tubby Smith. Xavier is set to upgrade out of the A-10 conference to the new Big East next season. Freeman had previous offers from Kansas, Villanova, Duke and Ohio State, but their continued mutual interest is now questionable due to those teams signing other talented shooting guards for next year's class.
