Purdue's Lawson heads to Appalachian State

Purdue forward Jacob Lawson will transfer to Appalachian State after playing two seasons with the Boilermakers. Lawson averaged 2 points and 2 rebounds per game as a sophomore last year.

The 6'8 Lawson, who had seen his playing time diminish by the end of this past season, joins 6'9 Sandi Marcius who also left the Purdue program this offseason. By choosing Appalachian State, Lawson heads to his home state of North Carolina with two years of eligibility remaining, but first must sit out the 2013-14 season due to NCAA transfer regulations. Marcius, however, would be able to play for his new team right away as a fifth year senior next season with only one year of eligibility remaining. Marcius averaged 3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game last season as a junior.
