2017 Forward D.J. Russell commits to Miami (FL)

Arlington Country Day (Jacksonville, FL) freshman phenom  Dwayne “D.J.” Russell has verbally committed to the University of Miami (FL). The 6’7, 208 lb freshman has yet to play a game for the Apaches yet remains confident in his abilities.

“I can just play my game right now and don’t have to worry about the recruitment,” says Russell during a break from an AAU game in Atlanta.

The young standout is a traditional big-bodied forward who has no problem holding his own in the paint, defending the ball, or draining the three.  Miami assistant coach Chris Caputo was so impressed with Russell’s guarding of University of Florida verbal commitment Brandone Francis during a practice that Caputo planned on extending him an offer.

ACD head coach Rex Morgan is confident that Russell has what it takes to succeed at Miami. “He’s an ACC player, no question.”
