Three in a Row for Drake

Reed Timmer- New Berlin

Drake’s first year head coach, Ray Giacolettie, is on a recruiting hot streak landing three commitments in three days.  The Bulldogs finished 15-17 overall last year and just 7-11 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Giacolettie has big things planned for the Bulldogs and the trio of 2014 recruits is a great start.  Giacolettie’s high expectations come from his six years of experience as an assistant coach at Gonzaga where they reached the NCAA tournament six times.

On Sunday night, Reed Timmer (New Berlin, WI) committed to Giacolettie and the Bulldogs.  He is a 6’1” point guard that knows how to score.  In his junior season he averaged 25 points per game.  He has great court vision and uses his strength to draw the defense and kick out to open teammates.

Timmer has already developed a great relationship with the new staff and felt that they really made him a priority.  A member of the staff was present at every one of Timmer’s AAU games this summer.  He selected the Bulldogs over North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Toledo and UW-Milwaukee.

Timmer’s commitment was followed by the commitment of Ore Arogundade (St. Viator, Il.) on Monday evening.  Arogundade, a 6’2” combo guard, is a top 20 prospect in Illinois and brings versatility to the Bulldogs.  He averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds for St. Viator in his junior season.

He chose Drake over Southern Illinois, Saint Louis and Murray State.

On Tuesday, Giacolettie received his third commitment from point guard, CJ Rivers (Cahokia, Il).  Rivers stands 6’3” and uses his speed and athleticism to maneuver around defenders.  He has a consistent long range shot and will play shooting guard as well as point guard for the Bulldogs.  Rivers selected Drake over Cornell and Valparaiso.
