Tadric Johnson Picks Georgia Tech

Tadric Johnson

Tadric Johnson, (Tifton, Ga.) the fifth ranked prospect in Georgia, announced his commitment to Georgia Tech yesterday afternoon over in-state rival, UGA.

Johnson is extremely athletic and brings versatility to the floor.  He has great court vision and makes great decisions with the ball in his hands.  The 6’2” guard is always looking to attack and is great at creating his own shots.

He is explosive to the rim and is able to rise above and finish or finish with contact.  His speed and athleticism will help him quickly adjust to the pace at the college level.

Although he plays point guard in high school and AAU, head coach Brian Gregory foresees Johnson to run both point guard and shooting guard for them.

During his junior season at Tift County High School, Johnson averaged 15 points per game.

Johnson is the first 2014 commitment for the Yellow Jackets.  He was also considering Ole Miss and Alabama, but wanted to stay closer to home so that his parents could attend games.

Another factor in his decision was the opportunity to play in what he called the best conference in the league: the ACC.  This was a major selling point for Gregory with Notre Dame, Pitt and Syracuse joining the conference this year and Louisville joining next season.

Last season, Georgia Tech ended with a 16-15 overall record and went 6-12 in the ACC.
