Rick Pitino's U of L lands Power Foward Jaylen Johnson

The University of Louisville basketball coach added a Friday morning commitment from four star Ypsilanti, Michigan, power foward Jaylen Johnson. Ypsilanti High’s Johnson, who is 6’9, 210 pounds, is considered a strong defender and rebounder with an increasingly growing effective offensive game. He is ranked the No. 55 player nationally by, No. 56 by and No. 62 by and Johnson unofficially visited Louisville in June, when he received a scholarship offer from the Cardinals. He has been scheduled to officially visit the U of L on September 20th.


Johnson also had offers from Arizona State, Cincinnati, Florida State, Iowa State, Maryland, Miami, just to name a few. Johnson is the third commitment in the 2014 class for Pitino, He joins five-star guards JaQuan Lyle and Shaqquan Aaron and helps Pitino start to fill the void in the front court that will be left by senior Stephan Van Treese and potentially early NBA draft departures Montrezl Harrell and Chane Behanan. This looks to be a good start to the weekend for Coach Pitino, who will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this Sunday.
