St. Benedict's upsets #1 Findlay Prep to reach NHSI championship

#5 St. Benedict's (NJ) forced enough turnovers to hold on for a 60-57 victory, snapping the 54 game win streak of top ranked and defending national champion Findlay Prep (NV) in the semifinals of the NHSI basketball tournament. St. Benedict's will now face Kevin Boyle's Montverde Academy (FL) Eagles in the finals. #2 ranked Montverde fell to Findlay Prep in last year's title contest, a game in which Findlay Prep made a huge run to erase a commanding second half lead by the Eagles. This will be St. Benedict's first trip to the NHSI championship game.

St. Benedict's Tyler Ennis won the battle of elite point guards in this game, outshining Findlay Prep's Nigel Williams-Goss for the win. Ennis, a 6'2 Syracuse commit, is expected to take the reigns for Jim Boeheim's team next year as a freshman, assuming Michael Carter-Williams departs early for the NBA and leaves a void at the Orange's point guard spot. Williams-Goss is a prized 6'3 signee of the Washington Huskies. Sophomore Isaiah Briscoe, a 6'3 shooting guard, was huge for St. Benedict's down the stretch, scoring 7 points in a row at one point to help regain and hold on to the lead.
