Underrated Small Foward Elijah Stewart commits to Loyola Marymount

Loyola Marymount sure are applauding after getting local recruit Elijah Stewart to commit to 2014.

Earlier today, 6’5, 185 lb Elijah Stewart out of Los Angeles, California committed to Loyola Marymount, becoming their second recruit joining Alex Rifkind for the 2014 class. Stewart attends Westchester high school in California, and lead his Comets to win the City Section Division 1 championship last season. He had recieved an offer from LMU September 20th, and now has committed 3 days later. It should be noted he did not have any other offers from any programs. Stewart has flown under the radar, and scouting reports have stated he is an “phenomenal athlete”. He has been regarded as a sleeper at this stage, and he has some physical intangibles that are very intriguing for the next level.

It is very interesting that this young recruit had no other offers, but this could be powerful motivation to show everyone his true talent. Stewart is a lanky wing-type who is quite explosive at both ends. He plays with great energy and is one of the more explosive slashers in the LA City section. He is fearless when he attacks the rim and literally tries to not only go through defenders, but over them as well. He has a knack to score in the paint areas and he gets numerous tip-ins while attacking the offensive glass. Loyola Marymount could really luck out, if Stewart turns out to be the player he is being talked as being.
