Saint Josephs lands North Carolina Wing Markell Lodge

Known to be a high riser, Markell Lodge is known to have some

The 6’7, 205 lb wing Markell Lodge from Christian Faith Center Academy in North Carolina, announced his decision today, after trimming his list to just two schools: Saint Joseph’s and Stephen F. Austin. Lodge visited Hawk Hill on the weekend of September 7 before making his choice today. He joins Cardinal Hayes (N.Y.) guard Shavar Newkirk in the Hawks‘ 2014 recruiting class. The move will certainly bolster the athleticism of a roster that loses the unmatched explosiveness of highlight dunker Ronald Roberts after this season, as well as fellow starting power forward Halil Kanacevic. Markell is rated a 3-Star prospect by ESPN and the 55th rated PF in the nation and 12th best player in North Carolina.

Residing from the hometown of Creedmoor, North Carolina, this is a big step in the right direction for St. Josephs. Lodge is a very athletic forward that can rebound, block shots and finish at a high level. He must add strength and develop his skills in which he is very capable. He plays hard on both ends and has tremendous upside. Lodge also held offers from Austin Peay, East Carolina, and Fairfield.
