2015's Rickey McGill Jr commits to Manhattan

Pictured above in the #2 jersey, Rickey McGill Jr. looks to prepare for when he comes to the Jaspers in the 2015 season.
UPDATE:

Rickey McGill Jr., a 6'1, 165 lb 2015 point guard from Spring Valley High in New York, has verbally committed to Manhattan. He made the decision during his unofficial visit to the Riverdale school on Monday. “I liked the coaching staff,” McGill said. “I liked the environment. It’s a nice place to stay. … I felt like it was better for me to commit now rather than later. I felt like it was in my best interest.” McGill will play for Manhattan’s third-year head coach Steve Masiello, becoming the first recruit to commit for the Jaspers in the 2015 class. Masiello’s Jaspers were selected to finish first in the MAAC. He can really defend and score in both the halfcourt and transition. He went toe-to-toe with Kaleb Joseph (Syracuse) and Paul Jorgensen (George Washington) this summer and scored 25+ against both players.

ANALYSIS:

McGill was an all-section player last season as a sophomore for coach Willie Worsley and the Tigers, who finished 18-2 and earned the No. 1 seed in the Section 1 Class AA playoffs. He was named second-team All-County and was coveted by several Division I and II schools while playing for Andy Borman with the House of Sports. He considered La Salle and Iona, among other Division 1 schools. Jaspers should be excited to start off their 2015 recruiting class, picking up a commit from this young star.
