Illinois Big Man Sean O'Mara commits to Xavier

UPDATE:

Sean O'mara, 6'9, 220 lb. Illinois center, has committed to Xavier. The Benet Academy big man had offers from the likes of Georgia Tech, Illinois, Marquette, and Virginia. O'mara is a three star prospect on Rivals, Scout, ESPN.com, and 247sports.

ANALYSIS:

O'mara's commitment gives Head Coach Chris Mack four total for the class of 2014. He will be joining fellow recruits Makinde London (PF), J.P. Macura (SG), and Edmond Sumner (PG) at Xavier next fall. O'mara is a kid with a high basketball iq that uses his width very well. O'mara struggles against extremely athletic players, but his game has more than enough good things to counteract that. He is exceptional with his back to the basket, and he has a nice turnaround jumpshot that he can knock down consistently. Additionally, he has nice touch for a big man and great passing instincts. He averaged 16 PPG, 8 RPG, and 2.5 APG in his junior season at Benet Academy. The current Xavier roster is stacked with big men, so it could be difficult for O'mara to force himself into the lineup early on, but if he is patient enough, his time will come. He simply has too many skills for it not to.
