Devin Robinson commits to the Florida Gators

Devin Robinson shown above, joins a very “loaded” recruiting class of 2014, that should have Gator fans very excited for the upcoming future.

Earlier this afternoon, five star forward Devin Robinson announced his decision to commit to the Florida Gators. Robinson chose the Gators over other offers from Indiana, Notre Dame, Auburn, Oklahoma State, and others. This 6’8, 180 lb forward out of Chesterfield, Virginia, attends Christchurch School in Virginia, where he averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds and two assists as a junior while leading his school to a Division II state title. He's rated as the nation's No. 20th overall in the class of 2014 by while ESPN rates him No. 28 and 247 lists him as its No. 1 player in the state of Virginia and 21st in the country in its composite rankings. Robinson becomes the third commit in the 2014 class for Coach Billy Donovan and his staff, joining four star shooting guard Brandone Francis out of Florida, and four star point guard Chris Chiozza out of Tennessee. Robinson's stock rose dramatically during the spring, when he burst onto the scene with the Squires Richmond AAU program. When the live period began in late April, Robinson's main offers were VCU, Virginia Tech, Connecticut, Rutgers, Towson and Boston University. That quickly changed, after a standout performance at the Pittsburgh Jam Fest.

Robinson is a long, athletic and active wing that excels on the break in addition to his ball skills that allow him to hit open threes and put the ball on the floor to create. Robinson is also a good passer that makes the right decision when he draws a second defender. He also is capable of defending both wing positions and a small power forward in a pinch. Robinson is capable of big numbers without drawing a lot of attention to himself. He can quietly have dominating possessions. Robinson is one of the best combo forwards in the class. Moreover, his ceiling is very high. At this point, Robinson is already a matchup nightmare for most opponents. Robinson is an outstanding commit for the Coach Donovan, and Florida Gators fans should be very excited for the 2014 campaign.
