Rutgers loses commits Griffin, Rector

Following the firing of head coach Mike Rice and resignation of athletic director Tim Pernetti in the wake of the player abuse video scandal, the fathers of two Rutgers basketball recruits, Shane Rector and Chris Griffin, have indicated that their sons have re-opened their recruitment and are no longer committed to Rutgers. Rector, a 6'1 PG from South Kent High School (CT), will keep Rutgers on his list. Griffin, a 6'7 forward from Tallahassee, Florida, was set to transfer in from Wabash Valley Junior College.

Before deciding on Rutgers, Griffin had been most strongly considering Auburn, Miami, St. Bonaventure and San Francisco. Rector also holds offers from Dayton, Providence, Massachusetts and Hofstra.
