5-star Trey Lyles commits to Kentucky

Canadian power forward Trey Lyles

Class of 2014 power forward Trey Lyles, 6'10 250 lbs from Canada, has committed to Kentucky over Louisville. Butler and Florida were also strongly considered. Lyles, rated 5 stars by both ESPN and Rivals, plays high school basketball in the U.S. for Arsenal Tech in Indianapolis. Lyles joins 5-star center Karl Towns, 4-star point guard Tyler Ulis and 4-star shooting guard Devin Booker in John Calipari's 2014 recruiting class.

Lyles is the latest of many Canadian players to take the American basketball world by storm, following top 2013 Kansas recruit Andrew Wiggins, a projected top pick in next year's NBA draft, and Anthony Bennett, last year's #1 pick in the NBA draft out of UNLV. Lyles also held offers from Indiana, Duke, Georgetown, Michigan State, Illinois, North Carolina, NC State, UCLA, Stanford and Ohio State.
