Kentucky lands another top 10 recruit in class of 2014

Trey Lyles, the No. 7 prospect overall ranked by ESPN decided Tuesday that he will be playing for John Calipari and the Wildcats next season.

Lyles, in front of The Indianapolis/Arsenal Technical High School made his announcement at a news conference carried live on ESPNU.

The 6’9 power forward Lyles was a former Indiana University recruit, but previously re-open his recruitment before his junior season. Trey whose final two choices came between Louisville and Kentucky decided to pick blue over red. In doing so Lyles teams up with Karl Towns Jr. ESPN ranked No. 3 player from New Jersey, giving Kentucky one of the most highly rated frontcourts in the class of 2014.

Lyles who is originally from Canada averaged 20.3 points per game for Canada at last summer’s U-19 World Championships.

Trey Lyles averaged 17.5 points, 14 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game for Arsenal Tech, where many believe he will break scoring and rebounding records this season.
