Oklahoma Sooners land Highly Touted Dante Buford

Dante Buford shown above, becomes the second commitment for the Sooners in the 2014 class, in the last two weeks

Earlier today, 6'7, 209 lb power forward Dante Buford out of Jacksonville, Florida announced via Twitter, that he has committed to the University of Oklahoma. This marks the second time in two weeks, Oklahoma's men's basketball team picked up a commitment from a Rivals150 player. The Arlington Country Day standout is rated as an three star prospect and ranked No. 128 on the Rivals150 of top prospects for the 2014 class. He's also the No. 8 player in the state of Florida, No. 21 power forward and 107th ranked player in the Top 247. Buford visited Norman in late October and followed with a visit to South Carolina last week before choosing the Sooners today. Buford also held offers from Oklahoma State, Miami, Alabama, Cincinnati, Illinois, Memphis, Texas A&M, USC and Wichita State. Oklahoma now has three commitments in their 2014 recruiting class. Buford, a three-star recruit, joins four-star center Khadeem Lattin and Jamuni McNeace to make up their current haul.

Buford is a long athletic and very explosive power forward. He runs the floor extremely well and finishes above the rim from lobs and on all clear paths to the rim. Buford is a quick two foot vertical leaper. Buford rebounds in and out of his area and can block shots on the ball or coming to the aid of a teammate from the weak side. Buford also can face and hit the open jumper with range to the arc when his feet are set from the low wing and when trailing the break. Sooners landed a solid recruit for the upcoming 2014 campaign.
