Notre Dame Prep’s Jarvis Garrett down to Two Programs

It should be very interesting to see where Jarvis Garret as shown above, will end up committing to: Marquette or URI.

According to Notre Dame Prep head coach Ryan Hurd, his team's point guard Jarvis Garrett has narrowed his choices down to just two schools - Marquette and the University of Rhode Island. Garrett was believed to be deciding between Creighton, St. Joe’s, Marquette, URI, and Providence, but his coach narrowed it down even further “It’s really down to those two - URI and Marquette” Coach Hurd said. Sources indicate that URI head coach Dan Hurley and assistant Preston Murphy were in attendance yesterday at the 2014 National Prep School Invitational to watch Garrett and his Notre Dame Prep squad take on the Mt. Zion Prep. Garrett was the star of the game scoring 24 points, including six second half three's which led his team to the victory.  Garrett's final line was 24 points on 7-16 from the field, 6-8 from three point range and 4-5 from the free throw line.  He had 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 6 turnovers. Landing Garrett would be no small task for Hurley, as the 6’0, 170 lb Garrett is a native of Milwaukee, Wisonsin which is the home of Buzz Williams and the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Garrett is a confident and competitive true point guard with excellent speed, quickness and strength for his size. He pushes the ball at high speeds and applies constant pressure on the defense with his ability to get in the lane at will. It’s also important to note that Marquette hasn’t even offered Garrett, so perhaps Garrett is more interested in the Golden Eagles than they are in him. Whichever programs lands this young recruit, will be getting their money’s worth.
