Lamar Stevens Commits to Penn State

Class of 2016 small forward Lamar Stevens has committed to Penn State following a recent official visit to campus in State College, Pennsylvania.

Stevens joins two Roman Catholic (Philadelphia PA) teammates, guard Tony Carr and forward Nazeer Bostick, in head coach Pat Chambers' 2016 recruiting class for the Nittany Lions.

Stevens, who recently transferred to Roman Catholic in Philadelphia from the suburban Haverford School, holds 4-star ratings from both ESPN and Rivals.

Stevens does a good job creating matchup problems for opposing teams using his strong 6'7 frame to drive to the basket and draw contact. Rebounding, especially on the offensive boards, is another area in which Stevens shines.

If he can improve his foul shooting, field goal percentage and perimeter play in general Stevens can be a force at the college level. If you are looking for a comparison, think of a more athletic but erratic foul shooting version of former Villanova standout JayVaughn Pinkston.

Stevens also considered offers from Villanova, Temple, Maryland, Indiana, Pitt, SMU and Marquette among many others.
